(EVAA) Show” Back to Our Roots”
will be held at Spook Hall in on October 6 & 7th
to coincide with the First Saturday Jerome Art Walk.

EVAA takes pride in being an eclectic group of visual artists with a wide variety of styles, mediums and personalities. “Back to Our Roots” refers to the first exhibition that the group put on back in 1975.
In addition to the exhibition and art sale featuring 22 local artists, a silent auction fund-raiser will take place offering a diverse choice of magnificent works of art to bid on.

Sedona Heritage Museum Hosts Images of Sedona Book Party Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

The Sedona Heritage Museum will host a celebration party for their newest book ‘Images of Sedona,’ from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 8.

The new book tells the story of old Sedona’s rich and unique history through more than 200 photos of the area’s early people and buildings. Autographed copies will be available for sale. Refreshments will be served. Co-author Janeen Trevillyan will be honored at the reception.

Highlights of Images of Sedona include photos of Oak Creek Canyon’s first families and early vineyards and orchards; Oak Creek Canyon’s long-lost lodges and schools; the history of Sedona’s art community from Max Ernst to the establishment of the Sedona Arts Center; and one chapter is dedicated to the town’s namesake, Sedona Schnebly. This is the first historic photo book of Sedona and area. “Images of Sedona” sells for $20.

History lovers Lisa Schnebly Heidinger and Janeen Trevillyan are co-authors and the Sedona Historical Society provided the photos. Schnebly is an Arizona native and Sedona Schnebly’s great-granddaughter. A journalist, she has written four previous books about Arizona. Trevillyan is a full-time Sedona volunteer for the Sedona Historical Society/Sedona Heritage Museum and the City of Sedona’s Historic
Preservation Commission.

The Society Historical Society operates the Sedona Heritage Museum on the Jordan Farmstead at 735 Jordan Road in Uptown Sedona, AZ. The Museum is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Society seeks to preserve the artifacts and the essence of the way of life experienced by Sedona pioneers from 1875 to the present. Fiesta del Tlaquepaque presents Ballet Folklorico Mexicapan Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Mariachis, Flamenco music and dancing, and the popular return of Ballet Folklorico Mexicapan, as well as other activities and entertainment, will immerse Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village in the sights, sounds and tastes of Mexico and the Southwest during ‘Fiesta del Tlaquepaque,’ celebrating Mexican Independence Day. Admission is free.

The 34th Annual Fiesta del Tlaquepaque will offer continuous entertainment from folklorico dancing to fiery flamenco dancers, several arts and crafts exhibits, delicious food and plenty of activities for kids.

‘The artists at the Fiesta are a great expression of the diversity, the artistry and the spirit of the community,’ said Wendy Lippman, Tlaquepaque General Manager and Resident Partner. ‘The Fiesta is a tradition that Abe Miller (builder and visionary) began more than 30 years ago and the activities attract Sedona residents, as well as people from throughout the country.’

Ballet Folklorico Mexicapan, a traditional dance ensemble of children and adults with colorful hand-made costumes from every region of Mexico, will perform at 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. in Plaza La Fuente.

Mosaico Flamenco, one of the most innovative and inspiring new acoustic flamenco groups in the United States will be in Patio Del Norte from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., performing four, 45-minute performances which include flamenco dancers and live music.

National Recording Academy Flamenco Guitarist, Drew Bennett will perform live from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in Patio Del Norte. The singing group Mariachi Colonial will be roaming the property from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Latin American Folklore music group Nostrosound will perform from Noon to 5:00 p.m., on the Patio de las Campanas.

Free entertainment for children will include face painting and Magical Michael Steele’s magic and Duncan Yo-Yo demonstration from Noon to 5:00 p.m., and a balloon animal-maker from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Besides the four great restaurants at Tlaquepaque being open for business, two of them, El Rincon Restaurante Mexicano and Secret Garden Café will have food booths, as well.

Free shuttle service will be provided by Sedona Trolley every fifteen minutes from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with pick-up and drop-off in the Uptown Municipal Parking Lot.
